Well America has responded with a definite thumbs down to their new government yesterday. Did you see New York? In my heart such nonsense that came from the evil three would soon be shown for the empty greediness of corruption. I don't know where America goes from here but the battle is on and I think democracy will win.
And a few photos of other parts of the country who are also protesting, taken from Rebecca Solnit site.
Millions protest Trump/Musk across the USA and worldwide. Hands Off! demonstrations in every city. - YouTube
Our little town managed 150 people (normal is 20- 40 is considered a big deal). I was amazed at the amounts of raised fist salutes, thumbs up, tooting horns...yes...there were the rude folks, but they were far, far outnumbered. It made me feel as if the tide is turning.
ReplyDeleteOh...and I meant to say that there were over 1400 'events' across the country in all 50 states, all of them well attended. One group, Indivisible, had 600,000 people planning to attend events. And that's just one group. I've said it from the beginning. The MAGA minds were completely happy to watch other people paying the price...I felt strongly that as soon as they were bitten, the tide would change. His policies are affecting his base, and MAGA is becoming 'woke'.
ReplyDeleteThe 'rout' hasn't happened yet but it will and then everyone will have to pick up the pieces and fit everything back together again Debby. But I just knew the good people of America would fight back.
DeleteI went to the protest near my city and we had thousands lining the street and many cars streaming by, honking and displaying signs. It was great fun and it felt so good to see so many that feel the way I do. I wore my new t shirt that said "Everyone is welcome here" and there were so many clever and thoughtful signs. I'm so glad I went.
ReplyDeleteI was struck by all the sign writing, so many issues Ellen. Glad you went and enjoyed the experience.
DeleteBrilliant to see. Arilx
ReplyDeleteI know Aril, there is suddenly hope on the horizon.
DeleteGood to see so many people standing up against him. Power to them and democracy.
ReplyDeleteWhat's that saying Jennie, 'Power to the People'!
DeleteI was proud to protest in San Diego with an estimated 20,000 others demanding an end to this craziness! So happy for the fantastic turnout everywhere! Americans do not support Trump and his horrible plan to alienate us from our allies. Cali
ReplyDeleteIt was an extraordinary turnout Cali. But it was against a vicious programme on the home front and a scorching attack through tariffs on the world.
DeleteI find this a little annoying in so far as many of the protestors will be Democrat supporters, who just did not vote.
ReplyDeleteTo that I will say this: people are beginning to wake up, Andrew, and I will not waste time quibbling 'woulda, coulda, should. If they show up with a sign, I will ask no questions. I will move over and let them stand by me.we are in deep doo doo here. We are growing an army.
DeleteWell as I would say Andrew, there is no point shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted. Here something has to be done and I wonder keeping that horse in the stable would have worked anyway. America has crashed in the hands of some very stupid people, perhaps it is better that something good arises from that.
DeleteIt's heartening to see that the fight-back has begun.
ReplyDeleteYes, indeed Tracy.
DeleteThe protests and reactions reflect a broader concern for the integrity of the system, with people actively voicing their frustrations and hopes for change. It's powerful to see how people across the country are standing together, showing that democracy is more than just an election – it’s an ongoing commitment to fairness and justice.
ReplyDeleteThe photos from Rebecca Solnit’s site help illustrate the widespread nature of the protests, capturing the strength of people coming together to make their voices heard.
I shared a new post; you are invited to read: https://www.melodyjacob.com/2025/04/amazing-guidingcross-hoodie-testimony-faith-hope.html Thank you.
Hi Melody, two things. I am too old to be 'influenced', also, I am agnostic. But thanks for taking note of what I say and you have an interesting blog which I will visit in the future.
Deletei think the stock markets crashing must have been bigger news than these protests - this is the first i've seen of them
ReplyDeleteWell its according to what news gets into the media. So a bias often prevails. Stock markets go up and down and the advice is stick with the investments you have over the long period. It is going to be a rocky ride Arctic Fox.
