Nick Park was on the radio this morning. If you remember he and his crew produced Wallace and Gromit, Chicken Run and Creature Comforts and other films. In 1985 he had joined Aardman Animations in Bristol and their clay figures given life by human voice dubbing was to go on to win awards.
As I lived in Bath at the time the local news station was often on and these strange little zoo creatures (Bristol has a zoo) would feature at the end of the news under 'Creature Comforts' They were hilarious at the time. Real human speech dubbed with animal characters. So my offering for today.
How it is done.
It is wonderful to see these again!
ReplyDeleteGlad you enjoyed it Tom. It was years ago before the Aardman Animations were famous. I always remember taking a group of children round the zoo and being squirted with water by an elephant, much to everyone's amusement.
ReplyDeletep.s. It is good to see you back now and then. X
ReplyDeleteI think I just saw a story about Aardman being in financial trouble. Yes:

That is sad, it takes ages for a film to be made because the little figures have to be manipulated into shape for each shot.
DeleteI did not intend to watch that for five minutes, but it was engrossing. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteBristol voices represented by zoo animals. I wonder if you could do it now?
DeleteI wish it had closed caption as I couldn't understand what the animals were saying. Haven't put my hearing aids in yet but not sure that would help.
ReplyDeleteThey probably had Bristolian accents Ellen, though the lion's voice was from Brazil.
