26th January - Imbolc is on the way

On my you tube there are brief snatched amateurish videos which I have taken with my camera.  The above one reflects the sound of water at the beck.  Looking through them, I once captured the cuckoo at an Essex wood, though I have also heard them at the above moor.  There are bluebells in this Essex wood, that beautiful ethereal blue that only this flower can give as spring makes it way through the annual cycle.

Can you not feel that spring is just around the corner? It is getting lighter in the mornings and evenings, the birds are beginning to sing early on and the jackdaws are beginning to explore the holes in the old tree in the church yard.

  1. Thank you for the cheery words Thelma. Bluebells were my farmer'sfavourite flower - our little wood was full of them and they were always out at the same time as the marsh marigolds on the beck that flowed through the wood. We put his ashes there.

    1. That is a good memory Pat. I love marsh marigolds but rarely see them, they came over I believe with those bloodthirsty Scandinavians but have settled down by muddy banks and rivers.

  2. Those are lovely videos. We have two more months of winter and those your scenes are what we see in early April. We had some warm days last weekend, that made me think spring, but now they are talking snow for next week.

    1. Well I am always a bit premature in my need to see spring flowers. In actual fact when I walked round the church yard yesterday all I saw was the snowdrops.

  3. Lovely post. Have enjoyed seeing the sun set this evening and the crows all starting to nest this week.

    1. It seems so early for nesting and yet that is what is happening. My videos are a bit smudgy, could be because I am using a camera.
