Today I went to the opticians, rather in trepidation that my eyes might be worse, but they were not and I have now acquired another two pairs of glasses that is when they are made up. One pair 'intermediate' for the computer and the other sunglasses. My daughter and Lillie took me and we had a few hours out trailing round the thrift shops in this hottest of hot days. Lunch at Leilas, an Iranian restaurant and listened to the middle aged ladies of Hebden Bridge. One had the nerve to send her food back because apparently she had all these allergies, which of course she had not had the courtesy in telling the waitress in the first place. Privileged middle aged women are really rather horrible.
Below we sat in the park whilst waiting for my appointment. I could not identify those green plants in the centre, the ap came up firstly with Japanese knotweed and then cannabis (well it is Hebden Bridge!) So it still remains a mystery but the Ladies Mantle was lovely.
This old tree across the flower bed had an intricate shaping of branches shame I did not catch it in my photo.
Good news on the eye test results. Why would you not mention allergies when you went to order? That is bonkers, someone who has main character disorder. Love the photos.
ReplyDeleteFunnily enough I did not notice it but my daughter said the waitress walked past our table with eyebrows raised. In my more gentle mood I would say that the lady sitting by herself felt uncomfortable and made a fuss. Or there again she was just a bitch;) Yes I am also glad that my eyesight remains the same for another year.
DeleteI have two plant identification apps. Between them, I usually get a correct answer but both aren't terrific. I am trying to avoid having three pairs of glasses. Next time, maybe I will give up.
ReplyDeleteWell I should have four pairs of glasses soon, so I chose blue colouring for these two. Or as Lillie said 'granny has chosen children's glasses!' But I have had quite a problem with my two pairs of brown frames now and have learnt from the experience.
Deletewe used to know it as herb-den bridge on account of that whacky backy! I'd like a close up of the unidentifiable plant though if you have one? thanks
ReplyDeleteMy daughter can always smell the wacky-backy on clothes but I have as yet to come upon it. I am sure it was an ordinary garden plant, had thin spires of dark red flowers, I should have got up from the bench and had a closer look.
ReplyDeletePrivileged people are a pain, regardless of gender or age.
ReplyDeleteI haven't got any time for people who don't respect others Debby.
ReplyDeleteRight there with ya, sistah.
DeleteSurely, if you have significant allergies you either don't dine out or you let waiting staff know exactly what your problem is. Maybe that woman is allergic to commonsense and simple decency so she cannot be a born and bred Yorkshire lass. Probably from Down South.
ReplyDeleteTut, tut YP. Should not brand people. Maybe she was lonely and unloved and the only way to get attention was to be horrible. The food is good at this restaurant, and the service, as is in most of the cafes round here, sweet and charming.
