Interlude

A favourite vlog of mine is 'The Mindful Narrowboat'.  This week Vanessa takes off to Whitby for a few days.  And boards the 'Flying Scotsman' at Grosmont.  It is only a short time and occurs round 15 minutes into the video.  The video itself is of course a nature ramble through the countryside.  And the first redwings have arrived in the country from places such as Iceland, there should be plenty of berries for them this year as also for the fieldfare arriving at a similar time, both belong to the thrush family.

  1. It's a great ride on the NWM Railway, but I wish it had been kept open as all the way to Malton.

    1. Also, as one who used to travel down to York and then catch the train to Scarborough and then bus to Whitby. It would have been better to have a train from York straight through to Whitby. The route is there.

  3. We have field fares here in Pembrokeshire (though Ive not seen any yet this year) - relentless rain at the moment, so perhaps when it passes `i will spot some flocks in the clifftop fields.

  4. I think that the fieldfares and redwing are still in the North Mark and Claudia the storm is not actually helping either.

  5. I love the poem! Do we get fieldfares and redwings in London? I have no idea!

  6. I doubt it unless you have a lot of berries. It is a long way down south to fly and they normally arrive in flocks.
