Vignette

The females of the family, long time ago at a nursery centre in Ruswarp, just outside Whitby.  In the centre sits Matilda, she was called Boudica around this time, her rather stubborn nature had manifested itself.  Now she is grown up, working in London and with her boyfriend, a musician and maths tutor.  Attractive, and (a granny's viewpoint) a little vain.  But 'Horrible Histories' was around at the time.
It could be Ben, her brother taking the photo.  Now they are firm friends as sister and brother in London, both in the celebrity game.  Matilda started out as an author in a modern magazine, Ben dresses the stars and the car racing star whose name I always forget.  And not forgetting Lillie, today is her birthday and she is being taken out by her two siblings for a birthday lunch.  2015 Birthday

Where are the other two?  Well they are being intellectually stimulated in a Yorkshire town called Sheffield.  It is a Docfest  festival, and already they have seen a couple of films yesterday.  One about a female truck driver in Mongolia; the other about 'Tik tok'
They had a Turkish tea, it is very cosmopolitian up North by the way, you can dine from around the world!  Trouble with me is I hate spicy meals.

  1. There is a strong sense of family thread running through this, with everyone moving in different directions but still linked by shared places and moments. The contrast between London life, creative work, and then a return north for film festival days gives it a nice balance of motion and pause. The detail about Ruswarp, Whitby, and Sheffield brings it firmly into real geography, which helps it feel grounded, while the birthday lunch ties everything back to something simple and personal at the centre of it all.

  2. They all grow up and move out into the world. It is to be expected, I know. We can only hope they do not forget the way home.

My daughter will become a British citizen on Tuesday.

  3. Well, I looked it up and it appears as if your Ben helps dress Lewis Hamilton who is a very, very, VERY famous F1 driver! Your grands have impressive jobs!
Happy Birthday to Lillie! May she have a fabulous year of fun adventures, lots of laughs, and much joy.
