Remembrance Sunday: As I cooked some potato cakes I listened to the service this morning. The children's voices today who still lose their fathers to military death. Old and young voices. I had also seen video after video of the floods in the Gazan camps and the misery of the people. War is terrible.
But as I had written about the Preseli Hills the other day, I remembered the fragments of an English World War 11 plane that had crashed up on the hill.
Coming on it so suddenly was a shock, I think because that such small parts still remained all these years later. The real evidence of war still lying on the surface. The plane had a number - Liberator EV881. A short note here. Four Canadians and five British men. Six of which died. It is a difficult place to find and perhaps that is for the best. I had just stumbled on it and tried to imagine, as I stood in a rather shocked state, the plane coming down. The ground seems burnt forever.
