Fracking - Liam's story

A rather eloquent young lad talking about fracking in his village of Kirby Misperton.  The gas smells are of an earlier time when there were wells for gas sunk, his description of the police at the end tell us of the well known bullying tactics employed.  What does actually come out at the protest camp is the range of age groups caught up, from 85 years old to this young man.

    1. It gives you an idea how these decisions affect everyone, especially the noise and disruption and then the long term.....

  2. If only Liam had been allowed to speak on his own without his mother's interjections which ruined the recording - for me.

    1. Well I suppose it was a subject covered in the household as a whole, he spoke well and her prompting was that of a proud mum? There again you could read it differently, the fight and argument of course is the most important.

  4. I agree with Heron. I thought it was a teacher which made me think even worse. Children should be children.

    1. 'Children should be children' sadly education is making sure that our children can strive in the adult community, and speech making is part of the curriculum. But the propaganda of why fracking is so scary comes over quite well;)

    2. Politics should stay out of the classroom. It did when we were young and later we learned what we wanted to learn for ourselves and formed our own opinions. No longer the case and the sad reason why this country is in the hands of the young who are the biggest threat to this country since the war.

    3. Well I'm not going to get political Rachel, think we have different views anyway but the hands that nurture us at the moment, Johnson, Gove and Hammond - yikes; notice I leave poor May out but only because she is at the helm of a disruptive party and I pity her. Tut just been political, should hear me in the morning raging at the radio!

    4. I was just thinking of Corbyn wanting to give the vote to 16 year olds, that was all. And we know he wants to do that.
