"And we forgot how beautiful the Earth is." It must be difficult to find the right words as you spin away from Earth in Artemis towards the moon. Looking back at our planet with all its trouble and woe. The search for a lone American in the deserts of Iran catches the heart. The smug faced bastard in the White House, sorry but there is no other way to describe him, is insulting leaders of other countries. This misogynist person, thinks he is 'king of the world' but no he has just pulled America down into a third rate country whilst he snuffles in the straw for yet more gold. Yes it is almost like a fairy story. We meet Rumplestiltskin again, only he has fattened up over time into a pathetic figure shambling around on foot as well as verbally. Crypto currency here I come, I'm sure I will get rich.
The last time I truly saw the moon in its full glory was at Avebury at midnight. Standing by the Cove stones on a crisp cold January night with Paul. Standing there marvelling at the dark shapes I could see on the white surface of the moon.
| The Cove, another enigmatic grouping of stones. There were originally three stones. |
Perchance those "dark shapes" were the cheesemakers going about their work for they used to say that the moon was made of cheese.
ReplyDeleteIt was a very cold, clear night. It is so often depicted as a half slice of melon that when you see it full size it is amazing. We depend on a hot sun and a cold moon for our lives, the sun is more frisky than the cold moon.
DeleteSo, tell us what you really think about #47?
ReplyDeleteIt would involve a lot of swearwords Andrew and I try not to swear.
DeleteThe sight of Earth, that 'blue marble' as someone described it, must be heartstopping, and something most people will never see.
ReplyDeleteBut it caught the imagination the first time round and many things did arise from that photograph Janice.
DeleteI imagine he is like the story "The Emperor's New Clothes" as he has so many around him that won't tell him the truth and just flatter him. The rest of see the naked fool he really is. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteI hope we don't take over the moon and ruin that planet, too.
Well it will be a long time before we do Ellen, the moon's atmosphere isn't actually welcoming to humans and not very green either.
DeleteI'd love to see the stones at Avebury. Haven't been there yet. Maybe when I retire!
ReplyDeleteHave you ever heard Pete Seeger's song "From Way Up Here"?
From way up here the earth looks very small,
They shouldn't fight at all
Down there upon that little sphere.
Their time is short, a life is just a day,
You think they'd find a way.
You think they'd get along
And fill their sunlit days with song.
The great sarsen stones of Avebury have a great pull for many people, especially pagans. It was in its day a gathering place for the people who lived roundabout. It takes a long time to see everything around there.
ReplyDeleteI did look up the song Steve and hopefully this is the link. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wJcq8oDZU9A&list=RDwJcq8oDZU9A&start_radio=1
