8th January 2024

Keeping up with our news.  Well no meal the other day, though the snow is not deep in the valley, the roads are icy and everyone is still getting into trouble taking the small lanes up to the moors because of the snow and ice. The culvert still remains to be finished, everyone is bellyaching about the fact that the new pipe has to come from Germany when there is a firm that makes pipes right next door to the 'hole in the road'. But really it is all just a brief interlude into the state of the roads in Britain.

I have not much to say, it is cold and I have had one of my 'sort of headaches' which leaves me tired and worn out and my birthday is tomorrow.  Also which is so annoying I have turned into anonymous whenever I try to leave a comment and on some blogs am refused completely. But hey-ho.

The following two links are good on the present situation, I have decided to fit Professor Tim Wilson in one of my Gormenghast Castle's empty rooms for sensible talking on the state of the land.  He describes Musk the man without qualities well.  I am not sure why we should fear such men as Trump and Musk, they are single minds in the hive, there are plenty of other bees working away for a better world;)

America maybe does not understand Britain, especially our humour or sense of irony.  The tongue can destroy just as easily as the gun, we shall see.

And what was the happy moment yesterday?  It was a small robin outside the window eating the food I had left out.  It is normally the crows I see but this little creature must have been after the tiny crumbs.

Why the American Right Loathes Modern Britain

Elon Musk, the man without qualities, the man without restraint

  1. You are not sure why we should fear such men as Trump and Musk?? On tonight's news, Trump announced he would use military or economic power to take control of Panama Canal and Greenland!
He also wanted to absorb Canada into the USA as the 51st state, but he did not mention a military take over in this case.

    1. To be fair Hels, he didn’t say he would use economic and military power. When asked the question whether he would rule out using military or economic power he said that no he would not rule them out..ie he left them on the table, didn’t say he would use them.

    2. Hels, one thing to remember though, is this. tRUMP talks a lot of smack, but the leaders of the US Military have already met, after his re-election. Due his regular threats of using the US military to achieve some aim, or punish some group, the leaders met to discuss lawful and unlawful orders and how they would respond in the event that they actually receive an unlawful order. There is much bluster and blow to this government, but they do not wield the power they think they do. Right now, Musk is riding high. He thinks he has all the power in the world at his disposal. He's a babbling idiot on a world stage. tRUMP is no different.

  2. Yes I have heard all that Hels, threats at the moment, big talk. Disruption for the sake of disruption. Wait and see. Thelma.

  3. It seems incredible that some Americans think of our Labour government as "hard left" when they are only slightly pink - trying to re-balance and re-adjust after fourteen years of Tory misery and neglect. These days, blatant myths often threaten to obliterate truths. Megalomaniacs like Trump and Musk are well aware of that sad reality.

    1. I agree YP. It is the same as those who think the current Uk government is communist - or call the Democrats communist. Or, for that matter, call the Labour Government socialist. Or those who complain about the state of the UK and blame it in the Labour government who have been in power for six months!

    2. To be fair, the Starmer administration will appear as left wing to a US audience, and many of their policies can only be described as "socialist" - how else would you describe a massive expansion on the state, and attempts tio regulate every aspect of our lives (rewriting the curriculum and forcing it into all schools, more hate crime legislation, state take overs of rail services, attempting to take control of energy supply through GB Energy....)

    3. Not to enter the conversation but just to say to Y/P I can't write anything in comments on your blog. And Will perhaps we need a bit more fairness in distribution of wealth (God did I say that;) As if the Labour party could sink as low as the Conservatives, they have a long way to go yet, give them a chance.
And Traveller, I agree about the wrong use of language to smear the opposing side.

  4. Frump is flapping his jaws to distract from his legal troubles. It's terrible to have to listen to Frump and Musk and think we have to listen to this for 4 more years. I'm so disgusted by it all. I can only hope that enough sane people will stand up against them and prevent their crazy ideas.

  5. Well Ellen you can just ignore them. There is quite a lot of disapproval from the rest of the world which will keep some check. Thelma
