A brave and courageous woman - Marina Ovsyannikova
"They are lying to you"
I am not saying much more, except to question whether I would have had the courage to do the same, I would have been terribly frightened. I wish her strength in what she may have to go through now.
15 years in prison, but Putin will not last anything like that long. I hope she can take heart in that, and I hope that Putin is not replaced with another despot.
In answer to you all, she has made the headlines now. As Tom says Putin will not last as long as she is in jail, the writing is already on the wall for him. I am hopeful that she will be monitored by the relevant NGOs and that she will not suffer too much under this regime, being blonde and pretty though is a worry.
Certainly opposition seems to be growing - we can only hope that somehow this terrible suffering of a whole nation and the terrible numbers killed needlessly on both sides will soon be stopped.
She is an incredibly brave young woman who is probably, right now, paying a painful and brutal price for daring to speak out.
But word is getting to ordinary Russians. I read somewhere, The Guardian maybe?, of how Ukraine is treating Russian POWs. First they get medical help if needed, then they get food, then they are given phones and told to call their mothers/wives/girlfriends and tell them the truth about the "special military operation".
Hi Jayne, Well according to the news she came out of the court with just a £200 fine, so perhaps social media has saved her, or they will punish her further along in time. The Russian soldiers did not even know they were expected to make war on their own people. I think it must be very confusing for the Russian people.
The news this morning says no-one knows where she is now - incredibly brave woman

ReplyDeleteFor now it is just a £280 fine, but they will pay her another visit when the dust settles.
DeleteSo courageous. I imagine she's in a gulag somewhere already. I hope she has helped to make the Russians sit up and think.

ReplyDeleteIt is a sad business Pat, we can only wait and hope that the aggression will soon be over.
