17th September 2024

Silly news:  Starmer was all gooey eyed over the female Italian prime minister, Giorgia Meloni and shopping for Armani suits whilst in Italy,  his wife on the other hand had a personal dresser to help with her choice of clothes.  And guess what? Someone else paid for the clothes - rich donors, tut, tut.

In the actual real world there are floods in Niagara and in Europe, Poland seems to be hit very hard.

Having over the last few days tried to clear my email of surplus stuff, I foolishly subscribed to The New York Times once again, they had been nagging me!  Like a lot of people I do Wordle, but then go on to do the
spelling bee. But they only allow me so many points then rush in with a subscription message, so I gave in.  My routine in the morning is to do one 150ish jigsaw, plus the others and not forgetting codewords.

So my inbox has once again become cluttered with NYT emails, perhaps I ticked too many subjects. As for news from America I will skate over that, though that mud stirring Elon Musk should be put in his place.

  1. I hadn't heard about flooding in Niagara. I remember seeing flood level markers on buildings along the Danube. The waters can go very high.

    1. It is called climate change Andrew and as for Africa its rating in news is way down. Trivial news is the name of the game now.

  2. For some reason Starmer always reminds me of Yogi Bear's friend Boo-Boo. It'll take more than an Armani suit to change that. Our Eurocentric news seems to have largely ignored the far more serious flooding (in terms of lives lost) in Myanmar.

  3. He is definitely different to the old socialists John and obviously doesn't know how to behave. But then the right wing newspapers are so deft at picking up every little nuance we shouldn't be surprised, Booboo the bear or not.

  4. That donor got himself a free pass to Number 10. I really do think that the Starmers can afford to dress themselves by now. He was never very high in my estimation, but now he has proved himself just as stupid and greedy as the rest of them No 'change' there.

    1. There is no honour amongst thieves or politicians sadly. It is the younger people of today, here I mean middle-aged. Perhaps we judge with old fashioned values. How we dress is the least important aspect of how we govern.

  6. Here, I have not heard one word about the flooding in Poland. It is all about foiled assassination plots and shocking political stories. I cannot WAIT for this election to be over. We will either be past the nightmare or just beginning it.

  7. Well let us just call it lazy journalism, and the ability to only be taken in by quick fire news. It also proves how stupid the human race can be at times, when that man of whom I shall not name, has managed to get to a top position on lies, greed and stupidity.

  8. I also make a promise here: NEVER to click bait on animal videos of cuddly lion mother rescuing her two cubs. Always check the link, and it was on F/B.
