Happy Equinox everyone

Landscape of the Vernal Equinox by Paul Nash

  1. I really admire Paul Nash's work - think of him as just a war artist but he was an artist who just happened to be alive at the time when his services were needed for that. I also admire the draughtsmanship of his brother, John - some of his depictions of nature are superb. Happy Equinox to you both too - and happy gardening. There is nothing better than a new garden to work on. I have to have help now but I still get huge pleasure from it.

  2. Well yesterday I planted out a frame's worth of seeds in boxes, then the other frame with various cut and come again stuff. My stuff from Clair Austin is winging its way here as well. Potato bed today, which will be tough ;) Happy Equinox.

  3. The picture seems somehow dreamlike. I think I see the sun to the right and the moon to the left. The landscape depicted appears mysterious - perhaps timeless. Thank you for sharing. I have never seen this picture before.

  4. He was an excellent painter, his war paintings are haunting, but he also painted the megaliths and of course paintings like the one above.
