12th June 2021

The assembled

collecting the day in politics

Johnson summed up in a sentence “Sure, I made a promise. But you weren’t meant to take that literally.”

Macron smooching with Biden  I love this video, slightly awkward leaders social distancing for a photo opportunity, see there is a bit of feminine input in the crowd.

Biden's warmth extends to Europe for goodness sake ;)

A little bit of home news, just to spike non-stop political news.  Yesterday phoned up a person in Slingsby who is willing to take my half wild/half tame cat on.  It is a smallholding with another two cats, by agreement I can keep him for another two weeks.

The bantams are already at another farm.  Green eyes still small but very vocal as always.  He is sitting in the sun by the table at the moment.

To be continued....

  1. If B.J. makes another unilateral decision to ignore the small print in the agreement he signed not so long ago, the sausages to Northern Ireland are going to seem very inconsequential in comparison to the hideous sanctions that will be imposed on the U.K. for revenge. As always, the poor will pay more than anyone else for the rises in food prices.

    1. Well everything has been put on hold but slowly things leak out and all the bonhomie and smiles of the leaders will not be able to keep the wolf from the door. It is fascinating listening to 'Nomadland' how many old people still have to go on working whilst living in RVs. Having lost their savings and houses in the 2008 crash.

    2. I would be there were it not for the kindness of non-strangers in strange times.

    3. But you are not Tom, I think the world will always pick us up in times of stress, just like my children rally round.

  2. When Johnson was a boy, he said that his ambition was to be "king of the world". He is probably feeling that his dream has come true this weekend as he elbows others out of the way to take centre stage in the photo shoots. King Canute.

    1. Sadly he wasn't near enough to the sea, he is all goodwill and fluff and he has got a show on the road. Bit like that bus that told lies...

  3. Do I take it that you are to move soon - you seem to be really offloading now?

    1. Yes Joanne once my old spaniel had left this world and I had scattered her ashes in the garden there was nothing to keep me here, except perhaps the roses;)
