At last

Ready to work, except it needs varnishing.  Thanks to Karen and Andrew, who spent most of yesterday afternoon making it up for me.  I have always rejoiced in the simplicity of spinning, but on putting a spinning wheel together not so!

    1. Good idea, but I shall lightly stain to begin with. Good wax is hard to find. And I want to use it of course.

    1. No one is allowed to get my wheel in a tangle, adults or grandchildren alike!

  3. Wishing you many hours of pleasure spinning away.

  4. It really is a work of art before you start spinning isnt it? It would grace any room.

    1. I think Andrew actually enjoyed putting it together and finding out how it worked Pat.

  5. I'd have no idea how to use it but it's always intrigued me!

    1. It is a very soothing occupation but not the putting together of the actual wheel.

    1. Yes Sue, well at least the other two did, my spatial awareness is appalling.

  7. It is a little beauty; two treadles and a self contained Lazy Kate. My wheel had a wide enough treadle I could use both feet, but I like the bicycle concept even more.

    1. Yes it makes you use both legs which is not a bad idea Joanne, I think it can be changed to double drive, though I did not want that. The wheel is an Ashford New Zealand one, still traditional, not sure I like the Louet. The modern ones are not inspiring.

  8. Quite a thing of beauty. Does the lanolin from the wool work it's way into the wood at all? Or have I asked a very stupid question?

    1. No Debby that is a very intelligent question. But not really the wool only goes over the bobbin and most of my fleeces have been washed and scoured.
