Good Friday again

Beautiful videos from Liziqi, she must be the most hardworking person on this earth.  Everything is handmade and if you explore her videos you will see food prepared with great skill and artistry.  It seems an idyllic life but lots of hard work, and one thing you will gather from this is the limited amount of materials that the Chinese (amended) had in past history to work with.  Indigo dyeing is probably one of the most difficult things to do, the 'resist' method of translating a pattern laborious, you will see the process in the video before this, but the above video shows the material she has made.
Went shopping yesterday, mostly for the animals, stood our two metres distance over the bridge to the Co-op, and only a few were let in at a time to the supermarket.  There were empty shelves and less green grocery, but still plenty to buy.
It was the curlew yesterday, the tale of the cuckoo will be the next.  Each year I find the old blogs and reread that which I wrote several years ago.

  1. Thelma, this is the most beautiful and restful video - I shall watch it again later. In my crafting days, before I developed my shake, I dyed with various different plant dyes - but watching this young lady's artistry was something quite different. Have a peaceful Easter - your first since losing Paul I think and not easy to be alone. I shall be thinking of you.

    1. Yes Pat, living without Paul is very difficult, he would have loved that video, for we have many dyed indigo cottons around, and those wooden bowls and dye pots as well. We should be thankful for the internet for it introduces us to the most interesting facets of this world.

    1. Thanks, I was not sure at the time to be honest, both cultures are very similar.

    2. Well she is very popular, and makes money from her videos, but the tranquil laid back approach is of course similar to our homesteading videos.

  4. Our local store has also gone to limiting who can come in. I don't know if that will impact us, but we are trying Instacart for Monday for the first time

  5. It is a good strategy. After all it is not just about the shopper but the till girls and workers in the supermarket who are vulnerable to us as well.
