Luddites all

There is absolutely nothing I can say today except I hope the political demise of these two happens soon! As for Rees-Mogg, total stultifying silence on my part!  'Scandal' story from the left in this country.

Jonathan Freedland on Class War

Though obviously there is also the sad news at the early death of Hilary Mantel and her ability to express so exquisitely not only her fictional historic framework of an Elizabethan era but her wittiness depicting today's society.

  1. At least their recent policies to address the financial crisis by giving disproportionate tax cuts to the wealthy may make them unelectable anywhere outside the Home Counties. Still, you can do a lot of damage in 2 years - if they last that long.

  2. I'm right. You're wrong. And you don't matter.

    1. Got an experience of being underclass today Tasker, waiting for my jab, in a very large queue of elderly people. Someone in the first decade of this new century thought to build a large medical centre in Tod, most of which is not used. Doctors supposedly on call, I think 5, but only one is normally to be found. There is a ramp for wheelchairs but marjority of people used the steps to the building. Why bundle such a lot of people together? also the computers had gone down (how many times do we hear that?)
We definitely need a revolution, someone was muttering darkly a General Strike.

  3. Politics annoys me so much I now just avoid it. But oh, how sad about Hillary Mantel. Her influence will be more lasting than the clowns in Westminster

    1. Well do vote when it comes to it Mark. Her Cromwell books were a bit long for me, though I enjoyed the televised series. But she had a sharp mind and eye that could see into our society.

  4. We had Morecambe and Wise, then Little and Large, then Baddiel and Skinner. Now we have got Truss and Kwarteng. They are just testing a theory. If it all goes tits up they'll be okay. Enough personal wealth to weather any storms and if they run out they can always write a book together "The Failed Experiment" with a foreword by B.Johnson author of "The Brexit Disaster", "Entitlement" and "How to be a Complete Buffoon".

  6. Hilary Mantel's early death - sad indeed. On the political front - interesting article in Times magazine today on Wes Streeting - worth a read.

    1. Can't access the Times Pat. only by taking on a free subscription, and I don't particularly want to do that, But looked up his promises on the BBC. Our large medical centre which has stood mostly empty for about 15 years, is, according to my daughter, set up for private practise when the NHS is finally destroyed.
